We serve over 120,000 square miles of Northeast Texas, Western Louisiana, and Southern Oklahoma, and transport over 1,500 patients each year. We operate helicopter bases at the following East Texas locations:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>FFL 1 Palestine<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FFL 2 Mount Pleasant<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FFL 3 Longview<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FFL 4 Wills Point<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">FFL operates three types of Airframes: Airbus H 145 (EC 145), Airbus H 135 (EC 135), and Bell Helicopter 407GX. Flight For Life is a direct link to Tyler\u2019s busiest Emergency Care Center at CHRISTUS&nbsp;Mother Frances Hospital \u2013&nbsp;<em>Tyler<\/em>, seeing over 75,000 patients per year. CHRISTUS&nbsp;Mother Frances Hospital \u2013&nbsp;<em>Tyler<\/em>&nbsp;is a licensed 402-bed acute care facility that includes a Trauma Center accredited by the American College of Surgeons, with 50 ICU beds, and serves as a regional referral center for Cardiac, Neurological, Obstetrical, Gynecological, Neonatal and Hyperbaric Oxygen Services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Aviation, Airframe and Powerplant maintenance services are provided and operated by PHI Air Medical LLC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CAPABILITIES<\/span><\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Our team includes a pilot, flight nurse and a flight paramedic who are specially trained to care for critically ill and injured adults and children. Every flight crew member is trained in the use of Night Vision Goggles, and all clinical crew members are required to maintain two national board certifications in critical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Each aircraft carries state-of-the art equipment:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Video laryngoscope for intubating difficult adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Mechanical CPR device<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hamilton T1 mechanical ventilator for adults, pediatrics, and neonates; capable of advanced modes such as APRV, PRVC, and neonatal CPAP in addition to BiPAP.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Point-of-care ultrasound, for assessing internal injuries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Monitors capable of transducing three invasive lines, continuous temperature monitoring, ETCO2, SpO2, 12-lead ECG, pacing, and defibrillation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hemostatic gauze, commercial tourniquets, and junctional tourniquets for controlling hemorrhage<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IV fluid warmer to provide warm blood and fluids to the patient<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IV pumps capable of managing six concurrent infusions; can bring additional pumps if required\/requested<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full complement of infant and pediatric equipment (suction, OG\/NG tubes, warming devices, airway equipment, and medications)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">We carry four units of blood (PRBCs and plasma) and all Flight For Life crews are trained in the following therapies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Advanced airway procedures including medication assisted intubation and surgical cricothyroidotomy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chest tube placement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Arterial, central venous and umbilical line placement<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Escharotomy<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Maintaining Impella and LVAD cardiac assist devices in transport<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Digital blocks for pain relief in amputations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Flight For Life can also bring the following specialty equipment to the patient, when notified in advance:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list has-medium-font-size\">\n<li>Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fetal monitoring (capable of twin gestation)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>BabyPod, a temperature-controlled environment for 2-7 kg infants<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capable of transporting and managing Impella devices in transport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">For more information on how Flight For Life can work for you, please email the Marketing Manager at <a href=\"mailto:marketing@flightforlife.com\">marketing@flightforlife.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"116\" src=\"https:\/\/www.christusems.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/CHRISTUS-FFL-Official-300x116-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4821\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FLIGHT FOR LIFE Flight For Life (FFL) is a critical care air medical transport service that provides helicopter transportation for patients needing critical care service within a 150-mile radius from Tyler, Texas.
